History of Central United Reformed Church Hove
- In July 1980, two URC church (Cliftonville United Reformed Church and St Cuthberts United Reformed Church) joined to form Central United Reformed Church
- The first Minister of the newly formed Central URC was Rev Brian Stone
- The new church was located in the former Cliftonville building and by November 1986, a new sanctuary located on the first floor of that building was dedicated
- After Rev Brian Stone moved to new pastures, the Church remained without a minister for several years, in a period known as Interregnum
- Rev Peter Elliott was called to minister to us and stayed until he retired. He still remains active in local churches and has continued to lead some of our services.
- After a few years without a minister, we worked with the other churches in the Hove & Portslade Pastorate and together called Rev Alex Mabbs to lead us, with the help of the Associate Minister Rev Roger Wood.
- Early in 2014 Rev Alex Mabbs moved onto another ministry in Brighton.
- Rev Roger Wood, with help of Hove & Portslade Pastorate continue to lead the church whilst we search for a new permanent minister.
- In 2015 we found our new minister Rev. Sue Chapman
